Customer Care Unit Designates PHOENIX for Windows as Enterprise
Distance Learning Standard
AT&T Solutions' Customer Care, one of the world's largest call center service providers, has chosen PHOENIX(r) for Windows as its standard tool for developing and distributing multimedia computer-based training (CBT). The company will use the training development tool to "stream" multimedia training over the company's client/server network to nearly 7,000 partners at 12 call center sites in North America, Europe and Asia.
"This was the only product we found that enables hundreds of employees to simultaneously access CBT over our client/server network," says Elmer Boggs, human resources training instructional analyst for AT&T Solutions Customer Care. "It has a powerful interface, and has become extremely popular among our various internal customers in a very short period of time."
PHOENIX for Windows streams multimedia training to the student allowing enterprise delivery, authoring, administration and computer-managed instruction (CMI). It was designed and developed from Pathlore's Distance Learning Environment (DLE(SM)) architectural model, the first open systems standard that unifies advanced learning technologies like the virtual classroom and self-paced training.
Pathlore introduced Distance Learning Environment to the market in August. PHOENIX for Windows' sister product, PHOENIX Internet -- also DLE-enabled -- runs on any Windows-based PC that has either Internet or intranet connectivity. It supports Windows 95, Windows NT and Windows for Workgroups, and can be launched from all popular web browsers.
Steve Thomas, president of Pathlore Software, says AT&T Solutions Customer Care's choice of PHOENIX for Windows indicates that the market acknowledges the power of network delivery. "AT&T has been a long-time PHOENIX customer, and we are delighted to help them exploit the capabilities of multimedia CBT using their existing network infrastructure."
In 1996, Jacksonville, Fla.-based AT&T Solutions Customer Care was awarded the Florida Governor's Sterling Award, which recognizes companies that exhibit sound business processes. Among other citations, the award noted the company's "service level agreement" program, where the training department guarantees in advance the outcome of employee training services.
