Alan,

<<How about Nortel/Cisco/NetSpeed vs. Lucent/Ascend/Westell in the "Battle of the Network Stars." >>

Netspeed and Westell both have CAP modems with several years of testing. I believe they do not have DMT yet. Since RBOCs are commited to DMT it seems to me that Lucent/Ascend/Awre might be more likely, unless WSTL is bought just for the sake of GTE and BA contracts.

What do you think would be WSTL take over price ?

Alan/Pigboy: Cisco has been talking about partnering with either Lucent or Nortel, and it's starting to look like a Nortel/Cisco partnership. The leading voice players are teaming up with the leading xDSL and CPE vendors.

1) Alcatel + Hayes

2) Nortel/Cisco/Netspeed

3) #1- Fujitsu/Orctf or #2-(Siemens/Orctf or LU/Orctf)

4) Lucent/Westell for the existing LU products + "A/THE leading CPE vendor"

5) Ericsson/Awre/ADI

6).... etc..

until later.
