Sean...

Thanks for the post. It was pretty much what I expected. I think this is more a Metastock problem than it is with QP. MS doesn't allow much messing with their stuff, this is just one more example.

When I finally do get QP2 ordered, I'm going to be *very* interested in that batch file you have mentioned a couple of times. Sounds like something I'm going to need immediately.

Appreciate your efforts for the rest of us. Ken

Sean, thanks for clarification. There are
lots of reasons I need to keep a complete
copy of historical data. The current R1's
two-year limit is too short. It would be
wonderful if R2 can update the name
changes in MetaStock's files. I know
there is some technical difficulty. Generally
companies changing name or reconstruction
will attract some short-term upward momentum.
If you do all your scans in QP, this is not a problem.
Hopefully R2 will support better logical operator
(AND, OR) and move some scans to QP.
I think QP should release R2 once they freeze
the spec. on database format. Other programs
such as Scan, Update, ASCII OUTPUT
can be improved over time.

To thread, Re: Download times.

After 5 days (including weekend) of rebuilding NT
because NT hates me, I have just downloaded last
3 days from QP+ (V 1.1) from net with following times;

3/5 1:37
3/6 0:27
3/9 0:52

Variations are typical for web traffic (though 1:37 is
much slower than normal; something hung in the middle).

This is with a 56kb connection via frame relay. I have
observed 56kb modem connections via pots (typically
connecting at 50-52kb) to give comparable times, though
my pots ISP is sick at the moment.

Regards,

Spots

Sean or others,

Help! I am having trouble writing a Stochastic crossover scan. Here is waht I am currently using:

Allgroup

Set STOCHASTIC = 13,8

Min( -2 , -6 , stoch ) <= 12 // It hit zero a few days ago

Stochastic(0) >= 12 // Stochastic is moving up

println Symbol , "," , " Close:", Close(0) , "," , " Vol:", vol(0) , " , " , " PE:", PE , " , " , " QRS:", QRS(0) , "," , description

This locates stochastic bottoms, which are nice, but miss strong trending stocks that don't bottom. A crossover scan is what I need. I have checked the scan databases and can't find any.

From QP1 software help

These lines pick the crossover:

StochasticPctK(0) > StochasticPctD(0)
StochastsicPctK(-1) < StochasticPctD(-1)

QP1 refuses to run these lines, says "(" unexpected??

Thanks
Rashid
