An inability to make money on government contracts certainly would not be unique to MKRS. Especially during early stages of research contracts. When you get to large volume production contracts, that is an entirely different thing. But Mikros was not ever at that stage.
In the long run, having worked with the Navy to develop new technology may have been a benefit to the Company. But I haven't been able to determine how much of that technology was transferred with the sale.
Also, until we see how much the Company received in cash, we will have a hard time determining the long term benefit from the deal. I'm probably barking at the moon, but it is possible to lose money in the 4th Qtr (which apparently they did), but still end up with a pot full of cash after the sale, which would not be impacted by taxes because of the large tax loss carry forward the Company has from previous operations.
