Only news I could dig up so far is this

3/10/98 - SEQUENT: Sequent & Oracle expand relationship to address requirements for new data center

MAR 10, 1998, M2 Communications - Sequent Computer Systems (Nasdaq:SQNT ) and Oracle Corporation (Nasdaq:ORCL ) have expanded their relationship to provide customers with solutions that lower enterprise computing costs through central and better management of work loads and resources.
As part of the new relationship, Oracle has named Sequent as one of its Global Alliance Partners, a premier position in the Oracle Alliance program that unites leading technology companies to deliver integrated customer solutions for network computing.

To deliver lower cost enterprise solutions, the two companies will utilize Sequent"s NUMA-Q platform with Oracle"s Network Computing Architecture (NCA). Recently announced, Sequent"s next-generation NUMACenter platform will run multiple application and database tiers in a single system, including the ability to run a mixed UNIX and Windows NT environment.

Through Web-enabled and thin client applications architectures, Oracle"s NCA is enabling new data center infrastructures that deliver lower total cost of ownership and flexibility beyond the reach of traditional data centers.

As part of the Global Alliance Program, Oracle will develop a global Strategic Business Unit for Sequent. This new business unit will concentrate on worldwide marketing and sales activities; this includes aligning Sequent"s field sales teams with Oracle"s general business sales divisions to execute specific marketing and sales campaigns. This is an addition to the current joint activities which focus on engineering, testing, performance tuning and service and support.

"The combination of Oracle and Sequent has been highly successful for Burlington Coat Factory, especially in view of our huge data requirements," said Mike Prince, Burlington Coat Factory. "Sequent"s NUMA-Q 2000 gives us the back-end headroom we need to drive our Oracle data server and applications. We"ve seen a substantial performance improvement over our old SMP-based systems and realized the important benefit of a centralized, consolidated view of our enterprise."

"Sequent has worked closely with Oracle for years and Oracle remains one of our key partners as we continue to focus on providing better solutions for the enterprise," said Jeff Pancottine, vice president, global marketing for Sequent. "Together, Sequent and Oracle are enabling a data center environment that can react quickly to business opportunities, manage work loads and control costs."

Sequent has been a member of the Oracle Alliance program since 1991. Joint selling and marketing activities have led to significant installations for both companies; such recent installations include Cisco Systems, Boeing, Burlington Coat Factory, Millipore Corporation and Oxford Health Plans.

Does the market think Sequent/Oracle will end Oxford's computer misery? Can Technically oriented people guide us here? Thanks.
