I appreciate your reply. My point in what I am concerned about is the lack of positioning by member firms such as Merrill BT Alex Brown and the like who are no longer showing size. The trading desks are active but the firms are not in a support position, meaning they are not willing to commit capital as they once were. This is partly due to the spreads and partly due to less member firms due to mergers. I am not implying any games or manipulation of the market, just a simple fact that it is not as profitable as before. There are regs on mark-ups which do affect spreads to some degree.
