I read the article

You should call up Novell to ask for confirmation.

The article implies that MSFT can't get its directory to work and so would go with Novell's.

However they would have to agree on some standard and the article mentions no such standard. For that reason my impression of this article is that it is a rumor.

Hi Quad-K,

It sounds like NetWare 5 has slipped also. Late summer is NOT in the first half of 1998. That means 2 more quarters of declining revenue and a possibility of going to market only a few months ahead of NT5. Also, Microsoft has a history of playing screw your buddy when the competition starts getting chummy. Or has everyone forgotten Microsofts reaction to NDS for NT. Now they are going to go merrily skipping down the lane, hand in hand? Uh huh, right.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I still think the glass is half empty.
