Thanks Larry for your input.

By the way, I see nothing wrong for looking to optimal times to buy highly volatile stocks. For example, I think waiting for the recent Intel news would have been a sound strategy (better than 50/50 it would create a tech buying opportunity). I am not so sure about TXN - the bad news might generally be a bit overdiscounted by then. Your point about this DPMI development saving big bucks for the chip makers is important - a general plus for them and a general minus for the semi-equipment sellers (DPMI excluded).

Larry: Will you please kindly remind us of your read after TXN's earning is out. Like you, I am also waiting for the right time to enter DPMI (and MTSN). ... Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Tim

P.S. It sure is quiet over at the SGI thread?!

Larry, I was going to say "Welcome to the DPMI Thread".. but then I realized I had been away so long, you could be welcoming me instead.
Thanks for the most useful "core dump" on the TXN processes.. Would your comments be most applicable to DSP chips, or could the same be applied to ASIC and DRAM chips?
As for your thoughts regarding another entry point into DPMI, you could well be correct...though the tie to TXN's results escapes me somewhat.. Personally, it appears to me that so many things are going DPMI's way that I am prepared to buy almost blindly (almost). The recent info that DPMI is taking over Hyundai's inhouse phtomask operations appears to indicate a growing "critical mass" for DPMI that augers well for their potential over the next several years.
BTW..where are you in Colorado?...(Did my master's at Boulder).
