I wouldn't bet the farm on that scenario playing out personally. The difference between the offer price and the open price could be huge (probably will be), but that doesn't necessarily mean the swing available once it hits the open market will be huge. DCLK is a good example of this, and I think everyone expected an @home-like first trading day for it. Instead it had a huge pop but not much trading range to speak of. Some day soon, I'm sure you'll be able to make such a bet, as it's probably only a matter of time before someone negotiates a way for options or some innovative new form of derivative security to start trading the day of the IPO. They'll think of some clever gimmicky name like POPtions, where you bet on how much the pop will be or something.
