Hi Bearcat, just shows you how far I am away from high school chemistry. I had it in my head that SO2 was 'rotten egg gas' and as such would of course be easy to detect!!

I don't know how big a deal sour gas is anyway, other than being a cost of production factor and running up Alberta's excess sulfur supply.

As far as oil removed to tankage, I hope lots!!! I don't think the field scouts could determine that but it would be nice to know.

Just for your info sulphur dioxide can be detected extremely easy and will only dilute in air the odor is unmistakable. Your basic refinery employee .
