There is a brief article on Greenblatt in this months Individal Investor where he discussed making your own stubs. He gave a few of examples (The Limited was one, mentioned on this thread earlier), and said he finds a company like The Limited who have holdings of listed companies, adds up the value of the shares they hold, subtracts debt and then puts a value on the rest, if its greater than what he thinks its worth he would E.G. Buy 1000 limited and short the equivalent quantity of the shareholdings of the Limited to get a limited STUB. Eventually he figures the value will emerge, good article, quick read at the newstand if you dont buy it.. Scott
