David:

Don't worry about the DRAM makers developing ASICs. There is a lot more to doing what LSI does than just having the fabs. Maybe they could upgrade and do the lower gate count arrays or something like that but to get to what LSI does in terms of its high gate count designs is not something that can be developed overnight I think. In fact I may argue that the longer they wait the further LSI is pulling away from them. The higher up the LSI designs go in terms of gate counts the more difficult I think it will be for newbies in Asia or elsewhere to get into the field. Right now LSI is at 400k gates, maybe we'll see 600k gates by the end of this year. This is huge considering that a couple of years ago 100k gates was considered amazing.

I agree about the TCI comments though I hope we'll get LSI connected somehow.

Come to think of it didn't MU get off someone's rec. list today - in the time tested behaviour that is totally inexplicable to me - that might explain LSI's misbehaving today.

I'm curious - what is similar to LSI's action these days that reminds you of last quarter's. There may be some weakness next q, but I think this q. is fine (I hope). I'm saying some weakness next q because the PC sector looks weak and magically if PCs are affected most semis are. But this is just tentative. I'm checking the pieces of the PC story.

I would join E's game but I put my GTC sell order at $150 and so that would bias my opinion. :-)))

Shane.

David,

LSI is showing a close of 21 1/16 today, but 20 15/16 was the low.
