This is an excellent observation - THANKS!

And what it illustrates is that Intel and IBM/Moto/Apple have advanced the technology and CPU architecture to address fundamental speed problems - with a backside cache.

The Socket 7 whiners keep trashing Slot 1, only because it is a clear and painful reminder that AMD and Cyrix, stuck on Socket 7, are technologically behind the leaders - saddled with inferior products - and imminent obsolescence.
