Tucker Anthony I believe is owned by John Hancock, and is a good regional firm based in Boston. So they should have a pretty good handle (assuming the analyst is any good) at the very least on Bay's east coast operations.
I don't think they would be a big market mover. I agree with you they are playing the WS upgrade-downgrade game. Transactions line the firm's and the analysts' pockets. That's just the nature of the beast.
I can tell you I was just disgusted today when the firm I do business with removed CPQ from it's long term buy list - this after one of the major brokerage firms it accesses large cap research service UPGRADED CPQ to recommended list buy! Talk about not sticking to the power of one's convictions, and changing one's tune when the stock has perhaps seen the worst and (maybe) bottomed!
BTW no CPQ position, long BAY!
