Rod, what was it that triggered your tirade of insults? I did not defend MSFT, VB, or J++. In one post, I stated that I have no problems with pointers (i.e. I know how to take out my garbage), and that I prefer C++ for high performance platform dependent code (as most server side apps are). I also stated that I failed to see a compelling reason for pointers in Java, as it opens the door to a host of run time errors (do you disagree?). My point was that MSFT has removed one of the strong points for Java on the client-side. In response to your post, I do not belive that MSFT is trying to save VB. I believe that they plan to make J++ the new programming environment for VB programmers. They get scalability, threading and performance (thanks to a Native compiler). They are well aware of the limitations inherent in VB. With Java, they eliminate all of those. By making a Windows only Java, they are trying to keep the programmers in NT. I did not say that I liked their solution. Nor did I promote it. I just stated the facts. I am not even convinced that the development community at-large will accepth their solution. But that remains to be seen. Developers are mercenaries by nature. For the most part, they will go where the money is. Period. Lastly Rod, I have no intention of getting in to one of your "I know more than you" pissing contests. Take your chest-beating testosterone blowout elsewhere my friend.
