Can you or someone at this site confirm CPQ's price when the 200,000 block was crossed by GSCO.

Ed,
SOunds like you have the "bell" curve imposed on top of CPQ's current price fluxuations, with the mean about 25 and standard deviation of 3?

I agree...

When you say we will have no warning about a move up, are you saying absolutely no signals available, or that they will be hard to detect? Will any brokerage houses change ratings in advance? Do you think we'll get some unconfirmed rumors sneaking in through unlikely windows?

Aside from major market shifts I don't see anything affecting sales for the next two quarters other than the knowns, like cleaning up ODM model, good plabs announced for merging DEC, some boost from Win98 sales, continued penetration of the cheapy PCs and "commodity" servers. Anything else to consider here?

Doug

Ed, as usual, your post was enthusiastic and raised some good points although I don't agree with your spin on some of them. Don't think it's that easy to change to a BTO model; it is always difficult to dismantle an existing process and initiate a new one. Also don't agree that laptop and desktop markets overlap and that because of pricing advantage those initially looking for desktop will switch to laptop. They are 2 different computer species and fulfill different computing needs. dulane
