Steve Case even sold a bunch of his stocks at this level. He must have felt that the zenith was near. While soaring share price makes shareholders happy, even if the fundamentals do not justify, and that the shares can be used as currency to buy other companies (if the price holds), it has negative effect as well. For AOL the runaway stock price could make it difficult to attract mid-level talents with stock options since the option price will be sky high (usually based on recent trades) so that excercising them will not generate appealing extra compensation.

Note: Lately we have not seen AOL bombarding news wires with all kinds of press release, from selling tickets to brewing coffee through the internet. Wonder why?
