HONG KONG--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 11, 1998--DiviCom Inc. (NASDAQ:CUBE), a leading provider of digital video networking solutions, today announced that it has opened a new office in Hong Kong to address the digital broadcast needs of the Asian market. By providing localized sales and service support, DiviCom is seeking to better serve its existing customers and expedite opportunities in the greater Asia-Pacific region. DiviCom customers in the area include Optus Communications, Space TV and Telecom Holding.

The new Asian headquarters will be managed by Mr. Richard Chau, Managing Director, Asia Pacific. Mr. Chau has held several senior positions within the telecommunications and networking sector at U.S. Sprint and Network Management Inc. He was most recently the general manager of the Sprint Global One, Guangzhou Representative office located in China.

In his new role, Mr. Chau is responsible for developing new business as well as enhancing existing customer relationships in Asian markets. His emphasis will be to establish DiviCom as a premier provider of digital broadcast solutions across all market sectors including direct-to-home, digital cable and terrestrial broadcast. Mr. Chau will also work with other manufacturers and service providers to develop complete end-to-end solutions for new digital services being planned and deployed in Asian countries.

John, thanks for sharing your experiences with the thread. It is clear that many claim to compatible with a standard, whereas few actually are compatible. Also, there are some very practical and important things that the standards don't cover -- such as the ability of DVD players to play CD-R and CD-RW.
