Frank:

Yes that's very very suspicious to me.

But I don't know what to do about it! I knew what I was gettin into when I bought LSI this time - I'm keeping this long term.

It's a bit late to expect an earnings warning from LSI - the last time I recall was one in mid Feb to late Feb in 1996 Q1.

LSI I think by now realizes that they have to give us early warnings or there will be fewer and fewer buyers of their stock over any length of time. They have been pummelled for not giving out enough information in the past - so I don't think they'll be making a pre-announcement this late.

However, let me add that they may say something bad about next Q. I don't think so but of the 2 - earnings warning and bad n/t visibility I'd have to go with the latter over the former. The question is what would be causing a n/t weakness next Q. Darned if I know but there are rumblings in the PC world and that does not leave the semis be they involved in Greco Roman Wrestling or PC chipsets unscathed. That's why I said earlier that if PC demand has slowed we can kiss the semis off for the next couple of quarters.

But I still find it difficult to believe that has happened. The other thing is a slowdown in consumer electronics related stuff and that is something that as I've mentioned before is not very easy to check and one that may show slower demand. Yet LSI's consumer electronics business is largely Sony - probably 60% and I think lots of people are still buying PlayStations!

Listening to Everett Harp and not concerned - as long as the longer term fundamentals are strong and the momentum is building little blips as long as they are LITTLE blips are inconsequential - stock price up down so what!!!

Don't think we'll be at 15.

Shane.
