XYPOINT Selects FastComm Access Product For Integrated Wireless
Enhanced 9-1-1 Networking Application

STERLING, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 11, 1998--

FastComm EtherFRAD(TM) Product Now Part of Nationwide Roll-Out

FastComm Communications Corp. (NASDAQ:FSCX) today announced that XYPOINT has selected FastComm Frame
Relay Access Devices (FRADs) for integration into XYPOINT's wireless Enhanced 9-1-1 (E9-1-1) communications solution.

XYPOINT, a privately held Seattle company, is a leading designer, developer and marketer of wireless intelligent network
services, providing location-related information services to the wireless industry. FastComm's EtherFRAD(TM) product
provides XYPOINT with a highly reliable, integrated network access device--supporting IP and RIPv2 dynamic routing
updates, with full remote management via SNMP--that enables flexible wide area communications for XYPOINT's wireless
E9-1-1 communications solution.

Each day wireless phone users place more than 59,000 calls to 9-1-1. Currently, most 9-1-1 systems can't automatically
determine wireless callers' telephone numbers--a situation that doesn't allow dispatchers to re-establish contact if calls are
interrupted or disconnected. In addition, today's systems do not capture wireless callers' locations, requiring 9-1-1 operators to
rely solely on information provided by wireless callers to respond to emergencies.

E9-1-1 service will help solve these issues for public safety agencies, contributing to improved response time. The Federal
Communications Commission is requiring all cellular carriers to be prepared to provide wireless E9-1-1 service to emergency
service agencies within six months of requesting the service.

On Dec. 1, 1997, the FCC issued its final order requiring wireless carriers to provide the public safety community with new
E9-1-1 services. Phase I of the FCC's mandate requires wireless carriers to provide a 10-digit call back number and
originating cell location information with each emergency call.

A leading wireless networking company, XYPOINT has been selected to provide its turnkey solution for a number of leading
wireless carriers, including AirTouch, Centennial Cellular, GTE Wireless, PriCellular Corp. and United States Cellular Corp. In
these systems, and others, XYPOINT provides advanced communications equipment, which transports vital information, and is
fully remotely manageable, over the wide area. For more information on XYPOINT, visit its Web site at
xypoint.com.

"We are very proud to have been selected by XYPOINT, a wireless networking innovator, to supply our multi-function
EtherFRAD(tm) product as an integral part of their E9-1-1 communications solution," stated Peter Madsen, FastComm
President.
