When I first bought in @ around 16, it had all ready had a run up from $8. The next few days after I bought it, it retreated a point or 2. I was thinking of selling it, thinking I had bought at a top. Now $4-$5 dollars later, I'm glad I didn't and will continue to hold for a while. In my opinion since you bought @ $22, you should just hold it, and will be fine. Very fine!! We ca't expect these stocks to rise strait up without these pullbacks. If it did, that's when we should be worried. Just a little bumb on the highway. Just my 2 cents.

Good luck.

Nick

If you can afford to sit on the stock for awhile then I would hold, if you need the cash and were looking for a quick trade you might want to get out before the weekend.

My Opinion Only!

I'm in trouble... I'm new at this... and.. stupidly bought at the high of 22 7/16... of course as soon as I bought it took a dive..
problem: should I hold... tolerate my loss until goes up.. or/ should I sell? signed...
not so smart...

Not stupid
Yhoo in the 80's
Xcit in the 50's
SEEK undervalued compared to the others

Your move was not stupid, just poor timing

I did the same bot at 20 7/8
set a stop at 19 7/8, stopped out at 19 7/8

Still like it here
Bot back at 19 3/8
new stop at 19

You just need to learn to use stops

Sue

robt blair..

A great may people bought at the level you did.
It's called momentum investing...
The momentum began around Feb. 20th. Infoseek was just
under $15. I watched it go pop to 16 1/2 then back off.
Then another new high at 17 plus and it backed off.
Then another new high (I bought in at 18 1/2) on Friday
the 6th. Then up and away to where it was yesterday.
Did I sell where you bought in?
Nope.. stop worrying.. more better days to come than worse.

Successful investors often buy in too "late" and sell too "earily."
You were a bit "late" but still I don't think you'll be sorry.

Your friend,
Marty

One needs a strong stomach for these stocks. As I stated previously, Seek excepted, they were headed down prior to President Clinton's comments. Because they have a lot of short sellers and lowish liquidity, they move dramatically in both directions. The big move was therefore probably fueled by short covering ... but these shorters are just waiting to step back in so the downturn can be just as dramatic.
Just for everyone's info, I noticed last year/early this year, that there was considerable manipulation of some of the internet stocks. I noticed it first when I shorted Lycos and some mm would support the stock, and then in the afternoon, once volume dropped off, some large blocks would be bid. Asia eventually allowed me to get out okay. Then I noticed that the same thing started with Xcit - and the support for Lycos disappeared at the same time. Lycos tanked and Xcit started climbing quickly. On a couple of shaky market days when everything was tanking, the support eventually stopped, but there was some hefty afterhour trades to drive the price back up. Low and behold, the pattern rotated into Seek, but was short-lived (only a couple of days if I remember correctly) as the overall market was so depressed. Guess what .. simultaneously Xcit went down quickly. Now ... as has been suggested previoiusly I believe, there is a certain Jeff V. who makes a good deal of money by finding stocks with lowish liquidity and a large number of short shares outstanding ... and manipulating the price action upwards so that he can make them cover .. and essentially take their money from them .. thank you very much.
Anyway ... I see I've rambled somewhat, so I'll leave it at that.
The bottom line is, that along with everyone else, e-commerce is the new(ish) large growth area, and manipulation aside, most will eventually go much higher, but it will be a roller-coaster ride !.

Hey Bob,
Hang in there!
I bought last year at the top of the last run up
to 14! From there SEEK went down to 8
and I bought three times as much.
If you can hold till the end of the
year (you may not have to wait that long),
you'll be more than alright.
