Hank, when financial professionals talk of business risk that is precisely what they mean. Standard deviation. It is mathematically defined. When applied to the equity markets it is defined in terms of beta, which is the slope of the regression of the return of the equity against the return of the market, but mathematically it is the identical concept . This is not a matter of debate, it is a matter of definition. It's like arguing against the definition of a circle. Regards, Paul
