Eric:

You are the one who is in a box -- the box of irrationality and dogmatism. You have everything to lose -- your mind and the freedom to be an individual. Right now you are a cog in the legions of the blind.

Eric,

>> If there is not a God then I don't loose anything with my belief, but if there is a God then you have everything to loose.

This proposition is known as "Pascal's wager" after the French philosopher Blaise Pascal. It is discussed at length in most textbooks of Philosophy. Just FWIW.

Best,

Jack

Eric, when you say "If there is not a God then I don't loose anything with my belief, but if there is a God then you have everything to loose" isn't that revering God a tiny bit like an insurance policy? Like hedging your bets?

Would God be pleased to be worshipped in that way? Wouldn't He know you felt like that, because He knows everything?
