Frank:

All things considered this is good news for the PC people:
techweb.com

(And note that INTC's little insinuation about slowing unit demand in the US is being questioned yet again. My sense is that inspite of what the Grand Satan says there is no slowdown in end user demand - just that there is a definite shift to cheaper models - no thanks to the pricing wars in memory, hard drives, microprocessors - no wonder these guys can deliver a powerful loaded computer that consumers like for under $1,000 and soon $800. But I'm still checking...)

[More computers mean more DVD drives down the road I would like to just add that!]

Also Windows 98 slated for June 25 (notwithstanding DOJ) and that will boost sales and the corporate PC sector.

If the PC industry "recovers" we have one major impediment - the guilt by association impediment - for the semis out of the way and that would be a good thing.

Shane.
