Whew--waded through about a dozen non-GTIS messages to get to one that might actually lead to some useful info, which I'll happily provide. ;) Note to Bob and Victoria: real and useful information ahead, you may want to skip to next message, or look for things to say bad about this message (since you can never resist doing so). >>> 1) What is the significance of portal technology as found in prey? How does this compare to Unreal's advertised use of portal technology. <<< There are various implementations of portal technology, and the version in Prey is by far the most advanced I'm aware of. Basically, portals allows us to avoid using a BSP'ed environment, which means we can mutate, modify and destroy our levels real-time, where BSP'ed games, like Unreal and Quake (both of which have limited portals, btw), cannot do nearly the real-time modifications we can. There are many other very interesting benefits to using portals, but we're not announcing them this early. >>> 2) Are you aware of a unit of Eidos which was sold/or developers who left and are now developing a game for GT? No. >>> 3) Do you believe that the acquisition of Single-Trac will eventually help GT and do you believe that it was a sound investment? Mike Bartholomew, V.P. of Singletrac, was here yesterday reviewing Prey and Duke, and asking how he could help us in any way since he's now Chief Technical Officer (CTO) at GT, too. We were *very* impressed by his background and knowledge. I really think Singletrac will be a valuable partner with GT. >>> 4) Beyond the Titanic text adventure?? What about it? I wrote this in 1885-86 and released it as shareware--my first shareware game. It seems to have been revived due to the movie's success. It's just a text-only adventure game. Scott Miller Apogee
