Price war is unwinnable by any company other than DELL. It is impossible for DELL to be undercut.

Dear thread
I take back my comments about splits being insignificant(2 nickels for
a dime).
The shares actually become more affordable, and I feel better about
shorting twice as many shares. <g>

Euphoria? This is nothing, you should come around earnings time.<gg>

Ramsey: Say I thought you went to China, you must be back then?? Listen don't forget to give us little synopsis when you get a chance here or on Asia Forum. Hope you had a nice trip, say you didn't happen to see the new DELL plant coming up in China did you??

Oh thanks for the warning and 'am fully aware of the risks involved and besides DELL would have to go down more than a few points (acutally heck of a lot more.) before i begin to feel the pain. Oh I almost forgot- besides it only money I do not have much regard for it anyway.<gg>

Listen if you want to see 'euphoria' you should come around here during earnings time, then you will really get scared.<gg>

In the article dated Mar. 5, 1998 - just 6 days ago - maybe somebody at HP was either ill-informed about their channel inventory, or they chose to present a picture of all is o.k. because they believed they could move the inventory without much problem (making them somewhat dishonest).....However, DELL's business model is one in which there is no inventory...and component pricing should be strong for DELL as they can offer the latest features, without delay, at a continually reducing price - because the components are getting cheaper.....The CFO of DELL, stated Monday 3-9-98, they do not see demand or pricing pressures Compaq was having......The question is this: Was he honest with us, Or is he perhaps honest but unaware of what CPQ's and HP's clearance sales will have on DELL.....I happen to think he (and the rest of DELL management) have already thought through all the scenarios and that's why he was able to deliver a very assertive, confident message on Monday (I heard the whole CC and canceled an order to sell some DELL right after that)........George

<<Price war is clearly just around the corner, if not here already.
Once it starts, everyone has to join in and DELL is not immuned. >>

Where have you been! Dell has been slashing prices all yr. as the others follow. Yet Dell beat the street last qtr. It's the channel, not the market.
