Satyr you have good comments about the market as do many others on this thread. From my personal point of view if I had a significant amount of money in CPQ (say $100K) then I would have done continous due diligence after Q4 97. Obviously finding a alternate places to put ones money is a constant task regardless of whether you are an investor or a trader. A good example of early warning that everyone had access to was the Feb 12 issue of Barrons (RoundTable 3) in which Art Samberg, *well known* and respected for his tech sector opinion said that CPQ had a short term problem directly related to channel stuffing and it was going to be negative for Q198. He also mentioned other problems plaguing the CPQ/IBM/HP/DELL connection such as the sub-$1000 PC's and the eroding margins. BTW, He said none of this would hurt DELL in the short term.

As a CPQ investor I don't have enough at stake to worry about the short term loss or gain. If I did, something like that would get me moving, even if it meant sitting on the cash for a while.
