Dipy:
I subscribe to Wiener's Vanguard newsletter and think it's worth the money if you have several Vanguard funds. His insight and track record on the Van. funds has been quite good and on his recommendation I've gotten into and out of several Van. funds at just about the right time. But you are correct that he is no fan of the Van. index funds, for reasons I don't understand. He lists both Total Stock Market and Extended Market as a "sell" and Index 500 as a "hold." I totally fail to grasp his reasoning as his own performance charts consistently show these to be among Van.'s best performers. It may be, as Brinker says, that index funds are "no brainers." Wiener may be thinking his subscribers don't need his newsletter if all he does is recommend index funds. (Come to think of it, maybe we don't!)

Interesting, of course if he is comparing these just to other Vanguard funds, the competition is stiff. i'm still a believer in the total market approach. Thanx,

Joe

Dipy: re:<Have any of you heard of Dan Wiener's newsletter? I think it's called the "Independent Advisor for Vanguard Fund Investors">

As this thread is about "Bob Brinker: Market Savant & Radio Host", I think you have a unique opportunity to start a new thread on SI devoted to this different newsletter you seem to like so much. Given the responses to your recent posts on this thread, it appears that a lot of people will surely appreciate it if you would channel most (if not all) of your future energies into building up the popularity of that new SI thread by spending most of your time posting to it. Perhaps your new SI Thread might be called "Let's duke it out" or "DippyTalk" or "Post Your Feelings of Being Victimized Here" or "On the otherhand". Frankly, I get nothing but negative vibes out of your posts - I'm worn out. The ultimate insult was to attack the revered founder of this thread - wow, what a downer . I've read my last DippyPost on this SI thread !
