Unfortunately, Platt said, the worst disruption is likely to occur at the middle and high ends of the market, where hardware companies make their highest margins.

Does anybody think this could be a problem down the road for Sun.

chapter 11: Sorry, I am somewhat skeptical about the Asian Crisis. True they may be suffering locally and true the stronger $$$$ may make imports cheaper thus more competitive BUT much of our manufacturing now is done offshore so OUR COSTS also will go down. Finally, in the long run only TECHNOLOGY can save the situation. Its knowledge which is power not rice. JDN

About SUN's earnings and what to make of the information we have...
We have read on this thread about fund managers talking with
someone from SUN who admitted to more Asian impact than anticipated. This caused the sudden Friday slump in the stock just before market close. It was also said that, alarmed by the market's reaction, the same person mentioned that numbers would still be met thus the rebound
on Monday morning. If you are like me, you don't know what to make
of this.
Like many I have been reading Addi's great posts. A few weeks ago Addi pointed out that strength in Europe might offset Asian weakness and that he was only just a little bit concerned about SUN's earnings but I believe he has recently clearly said that he does not think SUN will meet analyst's unrealistic earnings for this quarter, that is was nearly impossible.
Adopting what I thought was a reasonable approach I increased my cash
position by selling stocks with little upside potential in the next months to jump on SUN if it is unfairly punished but did not sell any of my SUNW shares in case they actually do meet the numbers.
