To all:

I haven't seen anyone comment on the Heard On The Street column in today's WSJ. Internet retailers were highlighted as gaining in light of the anticipated price war in hardware. Specifically mentioned were YHOO, AMZN, Infoseek, Excite, AOL, Earthlink, N2K, Lycos.

"...much of the buying has been among individual investors who are being touted the stocks by retail brokers.

Lots of hedge-fund managers say they are lining up to sell shares of the Internet stocks short, betting on a decline in their price, because of the stratospheric valuations they have taken on lately."

Several analysts are quoted as pointing out the extreme values assigned to some of the companies.

So who is going to be right? The institutions or individuals? How about a little arbitrage: go long EGGS and short AMZN and wait for the market figure the valuation of internet stocks?

Back to lurking.

Gloria,

This stock will jump around a bit, but I bet it doubles by the end of 1998.

You can also place bets at Vegas & AC. The odds are very good at the craps tables. Orrr you can play the internet stocks. Odds? Perhaps riskier than you think. Good Luck

Ted

Gloria - I am short EGGS & way under water. I do not consider this a good compnay or turnaround story. I was just kidding because every dip CB says he missed another opportunity.

IMHO, somebody is buying 200 shares at the bell on an uptick almost regularly. I did not want to mislead you.
