NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- DocuCorp International Inc., a Dallas-based
software maker, Wednesday reported its fiscal second-quarter net income
rose 64%. The following summary compares the latest and previous-year
figures for the quarters ended Jan. 31:
1998 1997

Net income 768,000 468,000

* - "Basic" earnings per share is calculated by dividing net earnings
applicable to common shares by common shares outstanding. This replaces
"primary" earnings per share, which included common stock equivalents in
the calculation. The year-ago per-share amounts are restated to reflect
the current presentation.
** - "Diluted" earnings per share includes options, warrants and
convertible securities in the calculation.

DocuCorp (DOCCV) is in the process of an initial public offering in
the form of a rights offering to shareholders of Safeguard Scientifics
Inc. (SFE), DocuCorp's largest shareholder. DocuCorp said it expects to
complete the offering next month.
