Kerry, I have always liked Spectrum Holobyte, despite its crummy new name. However, the game market is tough and the only way to judge them is to know what they have coming out. Also, these things are seasonal and I'd rather buy it before Xmas than before Easter, unless I see a real blockbuster. Right now, I think they have some nice product about to hit the shelves, but nothing to make you forget Erts and Midway and Sierra On-Line. (I've already forgotten Aklaim. -g-) I see them as a possible takeover candidate for some fuddy-duddy co. that wants to youth-up its product mix. At current prices, I like it as a "value speculation." MB

Kerry,

Actually, Microprose and Spectrum Holobyte used to be separate
companies. Spectrum bought out Microprose about 3 years ago.
Spectrum has made some very bad moves lately in the area of
customer relations and alienated a lot of gamers. I think they
are switching to the Microprose name to put this behind them.

Microprose itself has been in a serious decline since all of
its best game designers left to found a new company, Firaxis.

I wouldn't be interested here.

Mike
