I agree re their luck of having the NOL to save their (and hopefully our) rear ends- I view this whole year (fy98) as basically a standstill year as they absorb the costs of the BD settlement - it would be a pretty good year so far w/o those extra royalty payments - it is taking them a year to "digest" the added expense - quite frankly, what amazed me was the fact that Qdel didn't tank as badly as they could have today and I hope they can avoid it in the next few months - I was also interested to see that since Frankel resigned, the stock actually seemed to be going up a bit on somewhat larger than normal volume- that seemed a bit strange to me - like perhaps someone out there was accumulating it - that would also explain why it didn't get punished too badly this afternoon after the announcement - because someone was buying on the dips. Just a thought. BOB
