Or have a techie that you trust get it and run it, and report to you. All PC investors should have a guinea pig box to test new technologies on. How do you find out how many teeth are in the mouth of a horse? Look in a horse's mouth. I try to look in the mouths of all the horses that come along. I tried videoconferencing over the LAN and over the Net, and it sucked. No killer app there, not that I thought there would be one in the first place. Nobody really gives a shit about videoconferencing except the videoconferencing hypesters and the bandwidth hypesters. I tried a 3DFX Voodoo accelerator board and it changed both my perception of the value of the technology and my estimate of it's potential popularity. They both went up. Voodoo is a nice technology. I tried x2 modems when they first came out and discovered that there was a lot of confusion over the competing standards and little straight information, crippling that market up and down the food chain, with subsequent disasters at the likes of ASND and COMS. I have a saying: "You can read all you want about driving, but the best drivers are the ones that drive. A lot." And so I am driving Windows 98, because the short term future of computing lies within it. I'll let you all know my initial take on it in a few days. God bless, PX w3.to
