Irby,

I use news keyword scans and watch the news ticker tape from several sources such as yahoo and other Internet services. I look for stories that with my experience will move a stock such as FDA approvals, patents, record earnings etc, .

Then I like to look at the chart with the average daily volume. If a stock trades with normal small volume I will ignore it unless the story is a biggy. Always keep track of NEWS stocks and see how they NORMALLY trade during the day. It takes time and patience.

And to answer the short question......I usually time my trades very well and will short a stock on the pause as it upticks and not wait for selling as they generally fall fairly fast depending on the trade. it takes experience because you generally must loosen your stops a bit on top calls versus bottoms. As they say in music , timing is everything.....

Good Luck

Ken
