{Off topic} End of the World (literally)

There is a story just breaking that a large asteroid (comet ?) may be on a catastrophic collision course with earth. If I get the details right, it will hit, or just miss, in 30 years. Apparently, its too early to determine with certainty if it will be a direct hit or a VERY close miss (by less than earth's diameter). Reportedly, if I heard this right, it is in an elliptical orbit around the sun which crosses earth's orbit and comes close to earth every two years, and we will need one or two more orbits -- year 2,000 or 2,002 -- to be sure what will happen during the pass in 2028.

Anyway, for those of you planning 30 years ahead, thought you might want to know. This is for real, it was on MSNBC a few minutes ago, supposedly this story will break big time in the next few days (I think they said it would be in tomorrow's New York Times).

Tell the guys at Livermore and Los Alamos that they may have jobs after all. If this is correct as reported, we are going to need the biggest kick-ass bomb of all time for this one.
