Edward,
It seems to me that formerly semi-equip stocks and chip stocks trended together. This is all too obvious simply from looking at charts from last Spring until now. What I'm wondering is are we entering a period in which certain company's that are showing strong growth in the midst of a sector showing stagnating or declining growth are able to separate from the rest of the sector and be rewarded by the big institions and mutual funds. It seems to me that the people who have done the buying for these behomeths in the past have not separated out the good from the bad when a sector goes into disrepute.
They simply dump the sector. Anyway I've been thinking that given the limited downside risk, the strong fundamentals, the tremendous upside potential, the stock buyback, etc. that it will be worth holding the shares even if the sector trends steeply downward. Or one could buy more later if and when the price goes lower.
But will mm's drive up the prices of DUV semi-equip stocks if they are doing well while the rest of the sector is showing declining growth. Something we will all find out as time progresses.

Regards,
AZ
