Christine,

>>Jack, are you arguing for term limits?

I guess so,although I share some of your reservations. I tend to favor the temporary politician who might put national interest ahead of personal interest. A current example: The Republicans, with their nose to the polls and the November elections looming, will not do anything to the current administration, and Mr. C. in particular, no matter what scandals and crimes eventually are ferreted out.

That is not leadership, which is difficult to define, but embraces a willingness to do the unpopular thing for the good of the country and not to pander to the basest instincts of a mob. Such a leader probably wouldn't last long in this sort of political system but would be better in the long run for the people. You can say I'm not a small "d" democrat. Maybe so. "Two things only the people earnestly desire, and they are bread and the circus games."
