arcane,

Re:MM = Market Maker - someone who makes a market in one or more stocks by buying and selling that stock from/to the general public. MM's are generally blamed whenever a stock of interest happens to go down in price. If it goes up this is clearly due to the merits of the stock or the wisdom of the investor.
DD = Due Diligence - investigations of a stock's merits or lack therof. Not to be confused with reading SI threads or talking to company management (though both may be a useful place to start).

There are various acronyms depending on which thread you are on. For instance, some people use MM to mean market maker while to others MM means Money Manager.

Also some use DD to mean Due Diligence while it can also mean Disk Drive Sector.

The former could be taken either way though the latter can be determined through the context of the message.

Regards,

Brian
