My understanding is that Keane wanted to license the airborne code factories. They were willing to pay a royalty of $10.00 per LOC.

Zitel was in the midst of negotiating a $5 Billion secret government contract which would have necessitated the use of the airborne code factories + the special Zitel refueling planes so the code factories would never have to land. Naturally, they felt it wouldn't be prudent to license out this key technology. Furthermore, Zitel is already in delicate negotiations to merge with Matridigm.

Keane then decided to try and buy the whole company. I heard that they offered $500 a share but the board would not consider anything under $699.

I understand there's some big news coming next week!!
