MC --so, you see this then as an IOM licensed drive with some rev's going to IOM and also creating another demand source for disks?

---------
just found this at their web site:

Las Vegas, NV, COMDEX Fall `97, November 17, 1997
- Fremont California based Addonics Technologies, a member of the ACER Group,
launches a Pocket Sized Removable Cartridge Hard Drive based on Iomega's new Slim
ZIP drive. Named the Pocket ZIP this drive is SMALLER, LIGHTER, and more
portable than any other ZIP drive in the market. So versatile is this new external ZIP
Drive it is powered by a notebook computer's battery through the PCMCIA interface in
conjunction with its internal rec hargeable batteries. It can also be powered off an
optional external power adapter (sold separately).

Addonics Technologies has taken the best of Iomega, their NEW slim ZIP drive
designed for notebook PCs, and combined it with their own ability to make very small
and lightweight external peripherals that are powered off a Notebook computers battery.
T his PocketZIP drive follows Addonics Technologies' very successful PocketCD
line of external portable CD-ROM drives. Their current 20x Max PCMCIA
PocketCD rivals any other CD-ROM drive on the market today.

The details on the PocketZIP are:

SIZE = 6.4 x 4.3 x 0.9 in, WEIGHT = 11 oz., AVERAGE ACCESS TIME = 29 ms,

MAX DATA TRANSFER RATE = 11.2 Mbits/s, INTERFACE TYPE = PCMCIA,
BATTERIES = 4, 600mA rechargeable.

The PocketZIP is intended for mobile professionals who need access to data they have
stored on ZIP cartridges whenever they need it and wherever they are. Where a standard
ZIP drive must be operated by plugging the power adapter into a wall out let or power
strip, the PocketZIP has no such restrictions. It can be used anywhere a notebook
computer can.

Ping Liu, the General Manager at Addonics Technologies anticipates an excited reaction
to the new PocketZIP. He said, "with the popularity of the ZIP drive as a storage
medium, the PocketZIP should be extremely popular". " ;With this product Addonics
Technologies has enhanced the ZIP drive and elevated it into a truly portable storage
device."

The PocketZIP has a Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price of $299 and is expected to
"street" at around $249. It comes complete with software drivers for DOS, OS/2,
Windows 3.1 and Windows 95. It will be available in December at major Computer
Superstores, Mass Merchants, Catalog companies, Direct resellers, VARs and
distributors.
