Microsoft sells puts and has for quite some time as part of the corporate stock repurchase program. That way, if the stock drops they are put the shares and buy them at the put strike price less premium, if it goes up, they just keep the put premium. I know that by mid last year, they had never actually had puts exercised through this program so basically were just keeping premiums. Haven't heard since.
