The Capital Asset Pricing Model is one of the most widely accepted academic pricing models though it has been criticzed quite a bit. It calculates discount rates based on the famous "beta" and then estimates the equilibrium share price based on the net present value of future profits using these discount rates. I have an Excel spreadsheet that can do this for you.

First I started with the moving averages but they are very predictive. I have devised my own indicator (based on time series econometrics) which seems to work well though it's not foolproof (no statistic is) but I haven't been using it very long.

I'm an an academic applied economist/econometrician in case you wondered.
