First DVD-RAM drives due C\|NET - March 11, 1998, 3:15 p.m. PT Toshiba will soon become the first major computer vendor to offer DVD-RAM drives as standard technology in desktop PCs, in the process taking a significant step for the high-capacity storage market. So far, the market for re-recordable DVD drives has been sundered by competing standards, a situation that has several times delayed planned launches by several vendors.
