You're right, of course. It IS a very tough place to mine... for all the reasons you stated.

On the other hand, a lot of the prep work has already been done... trenching, etc... and for now at least IKAR seems to have good relations with the government. Two big plusses, in my mind.

I think you are right. This is an unstable part of the world. However, don't overlook the fact that a major multinational can
go in where small companies cannot. I'm sure that you can buy all the coke you can guzzle in Kazakhstan.

Look at the Michelin Rubber plantation in Vietnam. No one ever fought on the plantation because Michelin paid off both sides to keep out, and they did.
