Lamda Physik has the backing of a larger company and could go into commercial production after dollars are thrown in that direction and the infrastructure is put in place. Komatsu is also small by comparison. CYMI might have close to 80% of the market or more. It also has the manufacturing capacity in place to ramp up shipments of units as the market demands.

CYMI has 2 legitimate copmpetitors that could take the appropriate steps down the road. However, CYMI does seem to have a stranglehold on this business and it is theirs to lose. As long as they deliver quality and quantity along with putting resources into developing more advanced systems, it will be difficult (but not impossible) to design them out of the systems. The longer they maintain this quality-quantity and R&D edge, the stronger their grip becomes. You can get into a situation of "why change and re-qualify if we have no issues". Possibly one of the competitors becomes a second source only from a sound business perspective. CYMI could counter this by having a second manufacturing site to ensure deliveries in the event of a catastophe.
