3. The Church (which church?) Exactly. That was the ONLY REASON for the 1st Amendment provision declaring that the Govt was to keep out of the church's business--that was wise and good, and beneficial to religion, which didn't want the State to be interfering with Church. But the Founders NEVER meant for the people in government to become devoid of Christian principles, of which were the foundation of nearly the entire body of laws . And they sure never thought that it would come down to the absurdity of abolishing teaching good and moral Christian principals in the schools -- but that's what's happened. Are you aware of what the very first official act of the Continental Congress was? It was to request a prayer from a minister, and so a minister read the 35th Psalm. ..and State must be separate in a diverse and free society, lest individuals will lose additional rights. Only separate to the extent that you don't have one religion controlling, or being commissioned "THE religion".BTW, some of the most horrific States in history were run by religious zealots who "spoke" for God. Christianity, and most other religions, tend to support Statism, not liberty or freedom. Let's see..Hitler? Nope, no Godly principles there. Stalin? An atheist. Christianity is based on unchanging concepts of right and wrong, that's true. So if it's against Natural Law to put people in ovens today, then it's also going to be wrong tomorrow, and next century, if the principle is based on Natural Law (God's laws, the Creator's Laws, the Laws of Decency). Man's laws, on the other hand are changing all the time ---- not necessarily a good thing for the health of a society that needs to keep healthy -- look at where we are today -- epidemic crime, epidemic drug use, epidemic ignorance in public schools..epidemic STDs, etc -- not a healthy society.
