MSFT announced a that they are taking Java and modifying it for their own purposes. The spin is that they are providing developers using Java as their language of choice access to the low level Win32 API. Naturally it is really just a ploy to increase the strangle hold that MSFT enjoys. IMHO they will not succeed. One of the primary reasons Java is a success is the write once run anywhere concept. MSFT has announced write once run anywhere Windows runs. More info at microsoft.com
