Dave,
Valid points, I agree with some of your logic. But you have to
realize that MSFT will quickly move to obsolete W95 as they did
W3.1 once W95 hit the shelves. What this means is that all new
consumer computers will be selling with W98 installed as a selling
feature soon after release. I'm willing to bet that any remaining
computers with W95 in the "channel" will offer a free upgrade
to W98 also. Let's see, if 90% of new computers have W98 installed
within 2 months after product release what does that equate to in
$$$$$?? As for Win NT that is a server software and very expensive
relative to W95 and W98. 97% (guessing) of computers don't need it
or wouldn't benefit from using it, most computers don't require
server status unless as part of a network in a business environment
therefore my guess is that 90% of business computers will need/use
W98 going forward, it just makes economic sense!
