Not if you sell covered calls, then all you lose is missed profits.
I sold Mar 25 NN covered calls (NNCE). Right now, it looks like I might lose my NN shares next week, but a lot can happen between now and then. I'll still have made a nice profit if they do get called away from me. I look at covered calls as an income producer and a way to "force" me to sell when I can make a profit.
Admittedly, naked calls can cause you to lose your shirt, no pun intended.
